I Heart Mr. Boddington

Ask me what I love about Mr. Boddington's blog, and I'll reply "where would you like me to begin?". Delightful invitations? Check. Cleverly written? Check. Fictitious man of mystery and intrigue working behind the scenes to improve the way we correspond? Check.

You have to check it out to understand what I mean {click on photos to enlarge}.

Mr. Boddington's is a stationer and paperie, not a calligraphy studio, so the folks there tip their hats to some of their favorite hands at scripting, including Tara Jones, Paperfinger, Queen Quills, and Calligraphics.

This darling coat caught my eye. Mr. Boddington's invitation suite further enhanced the art deco theme and vintage flair of the bride and groom's wedding. Photograph by Nelson Hancock Photography.

For more, go to Mr. Boddington's website. Be sure to take a peek at the lookbook, as well as the illustrious history of the man himself.

Vintage Postcard Save the Dates

I love vintage ephemera. There is something about the craftsmanship involved in old printmaking that makes me swoon. So naturally, I adore the idea of using old postcards for save the dates.

Ideally you want to use blank cards that are specific to the region you plan to marry. However, not all of us are lucky enough to fall under that umbrella, so for the rest, there are beautiful generic images that will work just fine. Here are examples of some of my faves:

Via Get Married.

Assorted Niagara Falls postcards via Vintage Glam.

If truly vintage isn't practical, how about printing your own? Flickr has a large community of members (like Suzie Que) who post images from vintage postcards (and other types of ephemera) which may be reprinted for personal use. So eco friendly (no envelopes needed!) and fun. Cold weather is just around the corner so easy peasy diy projects are a good thing to get lined up.

I Heart Austin Press

While searching for my own personal invitations, I came across Austin Press. The description had me hooked; Fine letterpress ephemera. Located in the historic San Francisco Shipyard, Kimberly Austin creates beautifully crafted ephemera on her vintage presses. Inspired by a collection of rare books and alphabets, AP offers a rich assortment of ready-to-write and custom tailored note cards.
I seriously can't even stand the awesomeness.

I love the vintage yumminess of her letterpress invites. Check out more of Kimberly's gorgeous work here.
