Glitter! Ghosts! Gouls!

I know this is a wedding blog, but I just have to share these awesome vintage looking Halloween decorations with you from Martha Stewart for Grandinroad. How cool is the invitation?! Inspiration can come from anywhere, and these little pretties get my mind rolling! No, not a Halloween themed wedding, but the window silhouettes can be made of the bride and groom; invitations can be made to look like vintage books; mini pumpkins sprayed with glue and rolled in orange glitter would make lovely table decorations for a fall wedding.

Fall is, after all, right around the corner!

Inspiration: Cheerful Green

Fresh, bright greens. That's what I'm crushin' on today. Vintage emeralds, grass, kelly, cheerful, happy greens. Add a bit of white linen or lace, and the palette is utterly charming for a casual or elegant wedding.

The New Anthro Catalog {love fall}

As most people who know me will tell you that I am a nerd for plaids, tartans, and checks. I look forward to fall so I can rock my awesome pair of old man wool plaid pants. So it made me happy when I received my Anthropologie catalog, chock full of my favorite patterns:

Instead of being draped in velvet like George Costanza, I'd opt to swaddle myself in plaids, drink apple cider, eat maple cream cookies, and do Halloween projects in front of the fire, thank you. Anthropologie, you lessen the pain of Summer's conclusion.

Inspiration: Vintage Red and White Wedding

The combination of red and white is a palette that fits into any sort of wedding. It can be dressed up with black and gold for an elegant event, paired with khakis for a seaside ceremony, or come in checks and stripes for a backyard casual wedding.

Inspiration: Shades of Purple

Growing up, purple was my favorite color. I loved everything from eggplant to lilac, orchid to lavender. Even though I am too indecisive to have a color preference these days, purple has a special place in my heart.

Wedding in the Woods: {Kristen & Todd}

I don't unusually buy wedding magazines, but the current issue of Modern Bride is essential to every girl who loves vintage style. Elizabeth Messina captured these phenomenal images from Kristen and Todd's wedding at Nestledown in Northern California. It is a combination of Louis Icart, woodland fairies, and Midsummer Night's dream whimsy, with an edge.









The fabulous shrug was made from family heirloom lace by the talented Holly Stalder. And the fascinator? Custom made for the bride by Leah C. Couture. Sasha Souza is the amazing planner who put this fete together. What a fantastic collaboration of talent! Absolutely breathtaking and one-of-a-kind! Inspiration: A Vintage Yellow Wedding

It's getting to that time of year when you can just feel that fall is right around the corner. That's my inspiration for this board. I am dying to find the yellow gown picture in the second row. Isn't it to die for?

Rain Drops on Roses

I love vintage rosey pink and sky blue together. The palette is seasonless, versatile and romantic. When I saw the photo of the suitcase, I knew I had to do an inspiration board around it.

Fabulous Florals

When I look at pictures like these, I miss my days as a floral designer. It was so fulfilling to create beautiful things that made people smile every day. I loved to work with people who had unique visions and wanted something different than the 'status quo'.

I'm all for a DIY project, but before you consider arranging the flowers for your wedding, consider a few things. First, it takes time not only to arrange the flowers, but to process as well. And this isn't something you can do in advance. Flower arranging is a last minute project. I have spent thirteen years putting together bouquets, and an average wedding takes me about 20 hours in total to complete, and that's if everything runs smooth. If you frazzle easily, I don't think it's for you. Save yourself the anxiety and go with a pro.

Over at Green Wedding Shoes is another gorgeous real wedding. The couple, Ainjil and Chris, had a wonderful vintage-chic wedding. The mismatched china and bridesmaid dresses gave it a real casual yet elegant look. The photographer, Jose Villa, did an excellent job of capturing the mood of the event. Olivet has Martha Stewart's new Home Tour Series featured on their blog. I am so into this kitchen! And it's great to see how an entire house is pulled together in a cohesive way.

Vintage Vignette Thursday

I saw this vintage wedding photograph and thought to myself 'now this is a bride and groom'. Men and women really knew how to dress in the early to mid-1900's, especially for weddings.

Sites like Etsy and Ebay are treasure troves for brides. Also check out your local tag sales and flea markets. You may come across a beautiful brooch or hatpin that will give your gown the final touch you've been looking for.

Lemonade & Lavender

Sorry about the delay in posting today. I'm making some technical changes in order to improve the maneuverability of brides {bliss} and it's taking a little bit longer than I thought! I promise to have a post up by mid-afternoon. Until then, here is a little inspiration for the day...

I love this refreshing palette; soft yellow and lavender. For a simple garden wedding, I think gorgeous bunches of lavender for bouquets, sprigs for boutonnieres, and filled vases for centerpieces would be heavenly. Serve your guests homemade lemonade (with lavender blossoms frozen in the ice) and add a little limoncello for the 21 and over crowd.

Real Wedding Wednesday: Rosie Parsons Photography

I stumbled upon Rosie Parson's blog a few weeks ago and fell in love with her style; and it seems I am not the only one! Her work has been featured in more than a few wedding publications and a favorite with wedding bloggers. You can imagine my delight when Rosie agree to share one of her recent shoots with my readers.

Ashley and Roberta were married at Notley Abbey near Aylesbury, England which provided a gorgeous backdrop. My fondness for this particular set is in part because of the details Rosie captured. Magnificent! Rosie worked with another photographer and friend, Sarah Vivienne, on Ashley and Roberta's wedding. The bride and groom incorporated modern and vintage aspects to the wedding with great success! Here are several photos I'm gaga over:

Sprigs of lavender are so sweet.

It is with a sinful amount of envy that I share this photo. Laduree macarons for the female guests! Unfortunately for my fellow Americans, these delicious, decadent treats aren't available to us. But I digress...

Give the people what they want. The men received bottles of Jack Daniels. Now this is my kind of wedding!

This cake is simple and sweet. Perfection~!
